Laws are being updated in the UK to give the police more powers to ground drone pilots. A new drone bill will also enforce registration for owners of drones weighing over 250g. Furthermore, there will be mandatory training and tests for all drone pilots.
The UK Government has been looking into the laws and legislation surrounding drones, especially in light of various supposed near misses for drones and planes that have been highlighted in the media.
The new drone bill which will be published in 2018 will allow police officers to order drone pilots to ground their devices where necessary. It is planned that the measures are intended to allow drone users to continue flying safely and legally.
The proposed bill will also be accompanied by various changes to the air navigation order that will introduce safety awareness tests for drone users, and the requirement to register with the government before flying drones that weigh more than 250g.
